• Microsoft Outlook saves your account data to OST files when you wish to work offline, and these can store various types of items, including messages, notes, calendar entries, contacts, tasks and so on.

Turgs OST Wizard is a straightforward piece of software that makes it possible to extract data from these archives and export it to a number of other formats. It is very simple to use, but it would benefit from a redesigned UI.

This application offers a useful feature that many other similar utilities lack, namely the fact that it enables you to view the contents of the imported files and extract only the items you are interested in.

Once you have imported the source document, the data structure is displayed in a tree-like structure, and you can click on each folder to view its contents, as well as analyze individual messages.

After finding the messages, notes, contacts or tasks you wish to save separately, you need to specify which format they should be exported to. The application offers support for PST, MSG, EML, EMLX, PDF, MBOX, HTML, MHT, XPS, RTF and DOC.

When exporting items separately, you also have the option of using one of the available file naming schemes.

Unfortunately, the application’s user interface needs to be improved in several respects. The program window cannot be resized, drag and drop actions are not supported, and the UI is, on the whole, rather outdated.

While some brief instructions are available on the product’s homepage, it would have been great if a detailed user manual were available locally.

Overall, Turgs OST Wizard is a simple, no-nonsense application that enables you to extract data from Outlook OST files and convert items to multiple formats. It is relatively easy to use, but it features a fairly disappointing UI.
