ToDoList

ToDoList provides a set of easy-to-use tools for monitoring several tasks and due dates. The program’s efficient layout is designed to keep users informed of progress and upcoming deadlines on everything from simple tasks to major projects.

The program is a little intimidating to start off with, since it’s really not much more than a blank screen with a lot of strange-looking command icons. Fortunately, the Help file’s tutorial quickly gets you on track. Populating the list took only a few minutes. You can make notes, set due dates, mark your progress, and color-code everything. Completed lists look a bit like a file tree, with each line of tasks interconnected and stacked on top of one another. One of the nicest aspects was the capability to make subtasks stemming from larger tasks. ToDoList doesn’t offer many special features, though the simple capability to add a symbol to each task helps differentiate tasks more clearly than color-coding them. Such a feature could be especially useful with massive lists.

This simple program performs its job quickly, easily, and intuitively. We couldn’t have asked for more from a planning tool. We can see ToDoList being used in business planning meetings, projected on an office wall while tasks are assigned and completion status is updated for important projects. ToDoList is freeware. It comes as a compressed file. We highly recommend this program, with its simple operation and helpful design.

ToDoList is a rare form of task management tool, one that allows you to repeatedly sub-divide your tasks into more manageable pieces whilst still presenting a clean and intuitive user experience. ToDoList has been in continuous development for the last 3 years and is an ongoing project. Your tasklists are stored in XML which provides many opportunities for advanced formatting and printing using stylesheets.

ToDoList’s flexible design makes it ideal for both IT related projects as well as more general GTD uses. It has even been used to total up tax related expenditures. We welcome feature requests and respond promptly to all reports of bugs or unexpected behavior.
