David Gilbert wants to help parents monitor their school-aged children’s activities online. He’s done his homework and knows his demographic stats cold. He also has a good handle on the main reasons why parents buy these kinds of products. Helpful, too, is that his price point is very affordable — equivalent in value to approximately one month of broadband service.

The market is huge, but there’s a lot of competition in this space already. NannySoft definitely has to bring on its marketing game.

Actual marketing activity has been slow, hampered by a micro-budget. Except for some pay-per-download efforts and sponsored posts by a handful of mommy bloggers, NannySoft marketing has been in quiet mode.

NannySoft is an application that runs silently in the background on your computer. In its simplest configuration, it quietly monitors all computer activity, and creates a record of everything users do. This data is stored and then accessed by you so that you can see how your computer was used. NannySoft is also configurable with whitelists and blacklists to define what is and is not acceptable use. For example, if you put the word “firetruck” in the blacklist for words, as soon as “firetruck” was typed on the keyboard, NannySoft would flag that as a violation of the usage policy. You can define blacklists and whitelists for individual words, the applications that are used, and sites that are visited. NannySoft is also very flexible about what to do when using the Policy is violated. Depending on how you set it up, it may simply log the behavior for you to check later; or maybe you email an immediate notification with details of what happened; or it may also notify the user that they have violated only the usage policy. NannySoft can be installed in a variety of ways to run with varying degrees of visibility and user interaction. While we generally discourage monitoring one’s activity without their knowledge, we understand that everyone’s circumstances are unique. With NannySoft, the range of configurations goes all the way from an acceptance necessary for monitoring, all the way to complete silence and invisibility. NannySoft data creases can be automatically sent to you at the end of each day, or simply stored on your monitored computer for you to review later. You have full screen video, step by step screenshots, and a complete log of all typed on your computer
