Developer’s Description

ADO++

1: What does the registration key mean?
A registration key is a one-of-a-kind ID generated by the FME Licensing Assistant from system data. It's Safe's way of limiting a single fixed license to a single computer.

2: What is a registration key number?
A registration key is a code of letters and numbers that allows access to one of the many Thomson Reuters products, such as Westlaw, CLEAR, Firm Central, and more.

3: What is the registration key?
Each person will create an individual user account by entering the customer's account number, an online registration key (available from your local dealer), and basic billing and shipping address information. The account administrator will be the first account created.

ADO++ is a user management tool for Active Directory Exchange 2010/2007/2003. With ADO++ the administrator can edit all attributes of an AD-Object with one tool. ADO++ fully covers the Exchange and standard properties of users, groups dynamic and contacts, including managing mailbox rights and delegations. With the introduction of Exchange 2007, Microsoft has changed the administration of user, groups etc. The administration of the Exchange attributes of an Active-Directory-object has been separated from managing the non-Exchange attributes. Although belonging to the same object, the attributes must be administered with two tools: the Microsoft ADUC, and the management console of Exchange 2010/2007. Additionally the administrator can and has to use the Power shell with the Exchange-Snapin. It displays the Active Directory objects in the directory hierarchy, like the ADUC does, or in a flat Browser structure, like the global address list in Outlook. The full version of ADO++ with its own user management can be configured differently for different users. So ADO++ can only show a special part of the directory for one user, another part for another user. It is also possible to configure the tasks, a user can perform with the objects. The Special Edition is a single user installation

Using ADO it is now again possible to administrate all important attributes of an Active Directory-Object, including the Exchange 2010 or 2007 attributes, with one tool. ADO also allows the administrator to manage exchange mailboxrights as done in Exchange 2003. ADO displays the Active Directory objects in the directory hierarchy, like the ADUC, or in a flat Browser structure, like the global addresslist in Outlook.
Features:
-Supports Exchange 2010, 2007, 2003 and Active Directory
-Displays Objects in treeview (MS-ADUC) and listviews (Global Addreslist)
-Configurable selection of entrypoints to the Active directory
-Fast user interface, can also be used by less trained persons
-Supports Remote Powershell 2.0 for Exchange 2010, no local installed managementtools needed
-Exchange 2010 administration with 32 Bit operating systems
-Exchange 2010 archive mailbox, calendar features etc.
-Exchange 2010 Role Based Access Control GUI
-User templates for automating of object creation (full version)
-Logging of all object changes on attribute level (full version)
-GUI to restore deleted objects
bulk changes of attributes of selected user
manage mailbox delegates with ADO

When you create an application that manipulates data in a database, you perform basic tasks such as defining connection strings, inserting data, and running stored procedures. By following this topic, you can discover how to interact with a database from within a simple Windows Forms “forms over data” application by using Visual C# or Visual Basic and ADO.NET. All .NET data technologies—including datasets, LINQ to SQL, and Entity Framework—ultimately perform steps that are very similar to those shown in this article.

This article demonstrates a simple way to quickly get data out of a database. If your application needs to modify data in non-trivial ways and update the database, you should consider using Entity Framework and using data binding to automatically sync user interface controls to changes in the underlying data.

With the user management ADO++ for Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange 2013 to 2003 and Lync 2013/2010 all attributes of an Active Directory object including the Exchange and Lync properties can be edited. In addition, ADO++ edits, among other things, mailbox authorizations and mailbox deputies, changes the mailbox type, restores deleted AD objects and replaces the Lync PIN. ADO++ displays all AD objects in the AD directory structure and also enables a flat browser display similar to the Outlook address list. The full version logs all changes to the attributes in a SQL database.

ADOdb is a fast, easy to use, popular database abstraction layer for PHP. It allows the same code to be used when accessing a wide range of databases.

It has been actively maintained since 2000 by the project’s founder, John Lim, who decided to retire from the project in 2013. Damien Regad and Mark Newnham took over the project, with the help of numerous community contributors.

ADOdb contains components for querying and updating databases, as well as an Object Orientated Active Record library, schema management and performance monitoring. It also contains the following standalone extensions:

  • A Date/Time library to handle dates outside of the normal PHP limits.
  • A Session Management library that extends the normal PHP functionality to allow storing of session management data in a database, or in encrypted values

Note that ADOdb is not a replacement for the native PHP database extensions, but is built on top of them. This means that the corresponding driver(s) must be installed and correctly configured for ADOdb to work.

This series of articles will detail how to use Microsoft Active Data Objects (ADO) and C++ to manage database operations. ADO can be used very generically for many different database platforms but for the purposes of this article the syntax for SQL tables and procedures will be in Microsoft SQL server format. The code presented here is not production quality code; it simply serves as an example for creating and designing a manager class for accessing a database using ADO and C++. Things like checking return codes, logging into a debug log, and memory management are not within the scope of this article or its code.

In order to use the SQL examples in this article, the author chose MS-SQL server as the platform. SQL Express has some minor limitations including database size and number of supported remote connections. These limitations will not interfere with the scope of this article. It is highly recommended that the reader take the time to install this if no other SQL server is available.

When installing SQL Express, one thing that happens is that the remote TCP/IP option is turned off by default. This should be turned back on after installation. Ideally one should put the server on a dedicated computer to remotely access it but if you need to install it locally you should still turn this on because it will make your transition from a local to a remote installation easier. You can opt to keep it off but in your connection string you will need to specify .local. for your SQL server.

The other thing to keep in mind is to download and install the SQL Express with Tools. This version comes with the express version of the SQL Management Studio. This tool will allow the user to more easily maintain and work with the installed databases. The management tool will make it easy to browse various install databases, view table data, and create procedures. The management tool uses what is called a .query window. in order to do various SQL operations. It makes it very easy to run various database operations such as DELETE, INSERT, SELECT, UPDATE right from a query window.

An OLE DB provider for OLE DB and ADO applications is included with the software.

OLE DB is a set of Component Object Model (COM) interfaces developed by Microsoft, which provide applications with uniform access to data stored in diverse information sources and that are used to implement additional database services. These interfaces support the amount of DBMS functionality appropriate to the data store, enabling it to share its data.

ADO is an object model for programmatically accessing, editing, and updating a wide variety of data sources through OLE DB system interfaces. ADO is also developed by Microsoft. Most developers using the OLE DB programming interface do so by writing to the ADO API rather than directly to the OLE DB API.

Do not confuse the ADO interface with ADO.NET. ADO.NET is a separate interface.

Refer to the Microsoft Developer Network for documentation on OLE DB and ADO programming. For product-specific information about OLE DB and ADO development, use this document.
